Foldout pages on both the front and back covers offer time lines and maps that help readers visualize hard-to-define temporal concepts. The seven classifications of dinosaurs provide a basic organizational structure for the content, and the adaptive features of each is explored in-depth. Habitat, diet, and size of each type of dinosaur provide bits of trivia. Illustrations and digital renderings offer full-color representations of scientists' best guesses at the appearance of dinosaurs, alongside images of fossil remains, while theories about extinction and the process of fossilization are discussed by real scientists working in the field.
