The strength of these guides lies in their focus on itineraries, which are engaging, dynamic, and in-depth. Also worth noting are the curated lists of suggestions for dining, shopping, and accommodations, which have the feel of highly considered choices that will steer readers in rewarding directions. With this series in hand, travelers can make a grand start on planning a trip. The arrangement of chapters is easy to follow, and the inserted highlights of various activities are useful and nicely placed. If one of these books exists for a traveler's destination, it would be a mistake not to read the title before finalizing plans, or indeed before getting too far ahead in the planning process at all. The itineraries and suggestions of what to see and do are wonderful, even if some readers will crave more detail in the maps and directions. VERDICT Travelers will want to read these guides multiple times: at the early stages of planning and also when seeking more comprehensive details. Itinerary-rich and with a lovely sensibility, these are books that should be central to travel planning.
