When Chloe Baker's best friend Kit moved to New York City with her boyfriend, just as Chloe's own boyfriend was exposed as a cheater, Chloe took the opportunity to start life fresh by moving to the Big Apple herself. Now she's got a job that she loves, a new apartment, and a stalled love life. Pressured by Kit to get back to dating, Chloe agrees to a blind date with a man named Jack. On the big day, Jack is very late, so late that when an attractive man who matches Jack's description arrives, Chloe is relieved not to have been stood up. Their date is magical. When she learns that Jack had ultimately canceled their date, she's left wondering who she spent such a wonderful day with and why he lied about his identity. The mystery date and obvious chemistry between Chloe and Not-Jack make for a charming meet cute, but the tone of the story shifts after Chloe discovers her date's identity, and she spends most of her time alternately obsessing over her new relationship and wondering if he's trustworthy. VERDICT Stock the latest from Wicks (Hazel Fine Sings Along) where rom-coms are popular.--Meagan Day
