Come Rain, Come Shine

Following the novels A Girl Called Rosie (2008), For Many a Long Day (2009), and Shadows on the Land (2010), Doughty's latest brings her story of the Hamilton family to the century mark. This new entry features Clare and Andrew as they finally get married and begin life in Ireland. They open an inn in Andrew's old home, Drumsollen, though Andrew has to continue his dreaded law work. Despite some years of success, the inn struggles during the 1960s, an era of political turmoil and the rise of airplane travel, which enables their usual customers to head for more distant destinations, forcing the young couple to reevaluate their plans and dreams. The setting and vibrant characters will draw in and please readers, as will the pervading sense of hope, even as disappointments rain down on Andrew and Clare.
